Pros: The mat works very well with pets that are very food motivated like mine. Momo snarfs down his food even with a regular slow feeder. The waffle shaped compartments really help in slowing down the gobbling. It also provides a fair entertaining brain exercise for him since he has to work out how to get the kibbles out. There is a silicone base rim that helps with some slipping and sliding if your pet pushes the feeder around when they get too excited. It's not ceramic or glass so no worries about breaking if you drop it or if your pet gets a little rough with it. Cons: Not the easiest to wash and dry due to the waffle indentations. I would recommend using a used toothbrush to get into the nooks and crannies. Leave it out to dry on a rack instead of wiping it dry with a tea towel or cloth. It's definitely easier.
